About
Welcome!
I'm Natasha Haught Fudge, a writer, wife and mother of three. This blog is a way for me to share my work and connect with fellow story-lovers of all ages. I'm so glad you stopped by.
It was never a question of if I wanted to be a writer. Even before I could write I spent my creative energy bossing cousins and friends around to act out my improvised stories. I cast myself as the beautiful princess and my female playmates as the men who adored me. I've always known I wanted to tell stories. It took me longer to realize I wasn't a fun child to play with.
The first memory I do have of writing includes an eight-year old me climbing to the top of the enormous pine tree in my front yard, pencil and paper carried in my gritted teeth. It didn't make sense to write perched several feet above the ground but I loved floating above the tress as I wrote. I've been chasing that feeling ever since.

Growing up in the beautifully dusty, sun-bleached Arizona, I was happily squished in the middle of a large family. My siblings and I competed against each other for everything: our parent's attention, food, and laughs. Being the funniest person in the room was the most valued trait in our family and a laugh, the highest currency. The competition was stiff, which has been to my good fortune. It was this environment where I first came to appreciate and cut my teeth on proper storytelling. To this day, one of my greatest ambitions is to make my family laugh.

I attended Brigham Young University where I studied film, with an emphasis in screenwriting and directing and before that, acting. I've always been passionate about storytelling, in all its various forms.

While at college I met and fell in love with a man by the name of Fudge. Seeing as my maiden name is Haught (pronounced 'hot') I knew we were meant to be together. We've been married over ten years and it's the most enjoyable thing I've ever done.

Since our marriage we've had three children, twin boys and a daughter and have lived in five different states. We now reside in the mountains of Utah and I raise my children and write when they're not interrupting me. I especially love writing children's stories, poetry and screenplays.

My favorite authors are Joan Aiken, JK Rowling, Edith Nesbit and Willa Cather. You can find me in my local library, wrangling my kids and browsing the fairytale section.
